Research figure as of 14th June 09:

Tiger Airways
SG - Macau
13th Aug (Thurs) 11.30 am to 3.10 pm, costL 5 + 85 = 90
17th Aug (Mon) 3.45 pm to 7.25 pm, cost 5+95 = 100
Total = 190 + 10 (luggage charge) = 200 (220 with insurance)

Jet Star
SG - HK
13th Aug (Thurs) 6.40 am to 10.25 am, cost 110 + 28 = 138
17th Aug (Mon) 8.15 pm to 11.50 pm, cost 110 + 35 = 145
Total = 283 (should be ard 300 with insurance)

Plan 1 (To and fro via Macau)
Day 1 (reach ard 3.10 pm): Macau
Day 2 (leave for HK early morning by ferry): Dysneyland. Wohooo!!
Day 3: Lantau island + Shopping
Day 4: Shopping and chill
Day 5: Return to Macau (go back Spore @3.45 pm)

Total cost: 220 + 60 (ferry ticket) = 280
1 night at Macau & 3 nights at HK, estimated hotel = (4*120)/2 = 240
Total (flight + ferry + insurance + 4 nights hotel) = 520

Plan 2 (Go via HK, come back via Macau)
Day 1 (reach at 10.25 am): more than half a day @ HK. to familiarize & shop ard
Day 2: Dysneyland
Day 3: Lantau Island + shopping
Day 4: Go to Macau
Day 5: Go back Spore at 3.45 pm

Total cost: 138 + 30 + 110 + 20 + 240 = 538
Benefits: Time save of ard 1 hr fr 1 way ferry and additional time on the first day (ard 5 hrs)

Assumption:
- Cost of hotel ard 120 per night
- Air ticket cost remains unchanged (the last day of promotion for Tiger airway is on 17th july and it might increase anytime in between. Now it's only 5 bucks. But the airport charge is damn ex.)
- If we book now, we might need to bear the risk that H1N1 might get worse. (it will only be covered by insurance if there is travel warning that force us to cancel our plan)

p.s. it will be cheaper if we can get another person to come with us. share the hotel cost.

End of report.

see ya tomo...

3 Days 2 Nights Malacca & Genting

Triple/Peak: 115 per person
Package includes:
- Return SIN/MKZ/KUL/SIN by SVIP 25 seater coach
- Return Malacca-Genting-Malacca by SVIP coach (leave MLK ard 1 pm)

- 1 night accommodation at First World Hotel, Genting

3 Days 2 Nights Malacca & KL

165 per person
KL hotel: Hotel Capitol/Ancasa Hotel/Swiss Inn

I think if we want to upgrade to exec coach: we need to ard ard 30-40 sgd each per person.
The diff is tv, games, and seats i guess.
Our trip to mlk is ard 4 hours. mlk to genting ard 2 hrs.

So how? Take tour or book ourselves? Go genting or KL?

If taking tour, let me know asap. Let s decide by tomo and we can go down to sat to pay $$.
Think ocbc card might have 5% discount. need to confirm again.

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Below are my researches:

I have discussed with Inb, we will be leaving Spore on 25 Apr morning to Malacca. We will stay overnight in Malacca and move on to Genting (if we have time) by cable car the next morning (26 Apr). After Genting, we will proceed to KL in late afternoon (or evening?) and stay overnight there. We will stay in KL almost the whole day on 27 Apr and back to Spore in the evening.

OK, we can go to Malacca either by coach, train or plane.

1st: Coach

There are 2 choices of coaches: Grassland & 707 Travel.

- Grassland
Date & Time: 25 Apr 2009 & 8am (only 5 seats left, must act fast!)
Price: $30 each
Duration: 4 - 5 hrs (depend on the traffic)
Pick up point: Golden Mile Complex, Beach Road

- 707 Travel
Date & Time: 25 Apr 2009 & 8am
Price: from $17
Duration: 4 - 5 hrs (depend on traffic)
Pick up point: Golden Mile Complex, Beach Road

2nd: Train

Malacca has no railway station of its own and the nearest station is on the main north-south line at Tampin, 38 km north of Malacca.
Duration from Malacca - Tampin by train: ard 5 hrs.
Pick up point: Tanjung Pagar Railway Station
Schedules: 0740, 1530 & 2100.
Then we have to go Malacca either by bus or taxi.
Bus: Tai Lye No.62 (ard 1 hr), I think only few ringgits.
Taxi: RM40 (not sure how long, but of course faster than bus).

3rd: Plane

There's no airport in Malacca. To get to Malacca we have take a flight to KL, then catch a taxi or a bus to Malacca.
I just checked Jetstar price, each person $40 to reach KL airport. But if we want to go Malacca 1st, no point go to KL then take bus or taxi to Malacca then back to KL again right?

So I think take coach is the best choice although it takes abt 4 - 5 hrs to reach Malacca.

OK, now let's talk abt food. :p Malacca is a real heaven for food...

Inb strongly recommended Lok-lok (satay celup). I did reseach on that, found out that Capitol Satay Celup is the best among all.

1. Capitol Satay

According to the reviews, we have to go there at ard 5pm to avoid crowds. It is located behind Public Bank.

They have varieties of food, we have to cook those food on the boiling satay sauce.

Price: RM0.60 - RM0.70 per stick.

2. Antik 88, Jonker Street Durian Chendol

They have varieties of chendol there, so El, you don't have to be afraid that you can only see us eating... LOL...

Not only chendols are served there, they also have Baba & Nyonya food.

3. Chung Wah Chicken Riceball

Chung Wah is a must-eat chicken riceball in Malacca.

Location: Just across the bridge in front of the Dutch Square (Stadhuys, Christ Church), opposite OCBC Bank. It is officially on Lorong Hang Jebat (First Cross Street), but it is at the start of Jonker Street (Jalan Hang Jebat).
Price : RM1.50 per 5 riceballs.
For 2 ppl, it's abt RM 15 (including drinks), for 4 ppl, ard RM30 (including drinks).

OK, now move on to hotel. I found this hotel while doing research on Malacca.

Puri Melaka Hotel

Price: For standard room, RM120++ per night (the cheapest so far).

Very nyonya type of hotel, haha...

Inb, we can have spa there too...

Check out this website for the prices:
http://hotelpuri.com/spa/menu001.htm

So, are we going Genting anyway? If we still going, we may want to consider cable car. We can take cable car @ Genting Skyway Station at Gohtong Jaya. I don't know where is it, have to do research. It takes only abt 11 mins to reach Genting.
Fare: RM4.00 one way, RM7.00 return.
Operation Hours: Sunday - Friday: 7.30am - 11.00pm, Saturday: 7.30am - 12.00 midnight.

If no, we can take bus from Perhentian Bas Express, Jalan Tun Ali (Malacca) to Puduraya Bus Station (KL).

1. Transnasional Coach Services

Time: 530am - 8pm (1 hr interval). Price: RM10.50, Travel time: 2 hrs to reach KL.

2. Delima Ekspres Sdn Bhd

Time: 7am - 7pm (1 hr interval). Price: RM9.50, Travel time: 2 hrs to reach KL.

3. Metro Ekspres

Time: Mon - Thur = 9am - 545pm, Sun = 9am, 2pm, 6.30pm. Price: RM9.60. Travel time: 2 hrs to reach KL.

I think we can go Genting 1st before KL, coz what we can do in KL are mostly shopping... hehe... I'd like to go casino for 'sight-seeing', lolx...

What do you all think abt all above? I spent almost 1 day worx... Don't say that I am not sincere enough. Hehe... :p

For return back to Spore, we can take Jetstar. Departure time: 920pm from KL airport & reach Spore at 1025pm. Price: RM68 per person.

Hey babes...

Did a bit of research for the Cameron Highlands. It's freaking far. We'll need 9 hours to reach there!!!

http://www.cameronhighlands.com/Destination_Guide/Getting_Here/ Getting_Here_and_Around/

Unititi Express leaves Beach Road Singapore at 10.00pm daily and arrives in Cameron at 7am the following morning.

It's nothing much there but the scenario is pretty good. So we go there just to enjoy the scenary. I think it'll be quite different from the places we've been to. It'll be quite a good experience. We just need to consider if it's worth the journey. We need to set off by Fri night, reach there on Sat morning, and we need to leave the place by Mon morning. So we only have full 2 days there, for 18 hours of journey....
I'm worried it will be kind of tiring for us.

2nd choice:
Genting/KL
Our initial plan, this is my preferred option, but i think el has been to most of the places. So think this might not be too interesting for her..

3rd choice:
Melaka/KL or Genting/Melaka (preferred) - this is a compromise option
I'm not sure how the journey should go, but from the map, it seems to be on the way. So should be feasible. This is a compromise option for all of us. But more research needs to be done on this to see how feasible for this.

This is the first time 3 of us going for a trip together. This is a rare chance. Let's try to compromise to one another and make this trip possible ok? Let's make this a memorable trip for all of us.

Pls voice out your opinion and we can make the decision from here. I hope everybody can enjoy this trip!
